Methodology & evidence
The assumptions behind the numbers.
A useful estimate starts by distinguishing what is known, what is entered and what is modeled.
Prices are not transactions
An advertised package price is an asking price, not proof of a completed sale or charter. Duration, captain, fuel and included services must be compared like for like. Hourly, half-day and full-day packages stay separate.
Calendar blocks are not bookings
An unavailable date can mean maintenance, private use, a tentative hold or a charter. It is not necessarily a verified completed booking.
Assumptions determine the scenario
Annual charter revenue is completed trips per month × price per trip × 12. Utilization and prices in this preview are your inputs or synthetic examples, not production estimates.
Operating cash surplus, not accounting profit
Annual fixed costs and applicable per-trip costs are deducted from charter revenue, along with commission on that revenue. Monthly costs multiply by 12; annual costs are used once. Keep fixed maintenance and trip costs separate to prevent double counting.
Included services and separate payments
When captain or fuel is included in the entered charter price, its owner-paid cost is deducted. When paid separately by the guest, leave it out of the entered charter price; it is also excluded from owner expenses.
Financing and initial cash
Debt service uses principal-and-interest loan payments, with annual interest divided into a monthly rate. Zero-interest loans divide principal by the number of months. Initial cash invested is down payment + acquisition/setup costs + initial working capital.
Cash flow and break-even
Cash flow after debt service is operating surplus minus annual loan payments. Pretax cash-on-cash is this cash flow divided by initial cash invested; it is unavailable when initial cash is zero. Break-even monthly completed trips equals monthly fixed costs plus monthly debt service divided by contribution per trip. Nonpositive contribution makes break-even unachievable.
Coverage and limitations
Duplicate listings may describe the same vessel. Production sources, seasonal patterns and validated transaction records are not connected yet. Confidence levels will depend on real source coverage and validation, not invented percentages. Demonstration data is synthetic.
Not guaranteed earnings
Results exclude depreciation, taxes, resale proceeds and multi-year returns. This is not total investment ROI, accounting profit, an appraisal or investment advice. Confirm operating legality, passenger capacity, costs and financing independently.
Evidence status
- User-provided input
- An assumption you entered; not independently verified.
- Synthetic demo
- An invented fixture for demonstrating the product, not a real vessel record.
- Observed advertised price
- Requires an actual supporting listing, source and observation date. Not applied to our synthetic examples.
- Verified completed transaction
- Requires supporting completed transaction records. No such records are connected in this preview.
- Modeled estimate
- A deterministic output derived from the stated assumptions, not verified earnings.
